Contact lenses are a great alternative to glasses, and are available to suit nearly everyone. Nearly all contact lenses used are disposables, as they allow for greatly improved health, comfort and convenience.
There are different types of contact lenses that are disposed of daily, fortnightly or monthly. In general, daily disposables are most useful for the occasional contact lens wearer, whereas fortnightly or monthly disposables are more suitable for frequent use. Monthly lenses are now also available in a ‘continuous wear’ option and they do not need to be removed for sleep.
Modern contact lenses a very comfortable and convenient, and are now available in new, more ‘breathable’ and moister materials, that allow them to be worn comfortably and safely all day.
Contact lenses can be used to enhance or dramatically alter your natural eye colour. Enhancing contact lenses provide a natural looking change for light eyes. Dark brown eyes can be changed using opaque coloured contact lenses. Unfortunately these lenses are usually not as comfortable or as healthy for your eyes as other contact lenses, and are therefore usually only recommended for occasional use.
If you are interested in trying contact lenses you can try on a pair during an eye examination, including trialling coloured lenses if you wish. Most people are pleasantly surprised to find the lenses greatly more comfortable than they had expected.
