Modern transition lenses are virtually clear outdoors, and darken into sunglasses when exposed to UV light. This treatment is available on most lenses. They provide 100% UV protection, and are a very convenient way of reducing glare for general purposes. As UV light is blocked by windscreens, they do not activate fully when driving.
